The Attic Door



Subtle, stunning, & haunting film...
I was searching on Amazon for something "different," and luckily I came upon this gem of a film. The scenery is absolutely stunning, and I was immediately drawn into the characters with the first few heart wrenching moments. The story unfolds slowly, subtly, and quietly, so much so that the ending was a complete surprise and absolutely will not leave my mind. The young actors are wonderful, saying so much in the quietest moments. A beautiful piece of filmmaking!

Breathtaking scenery,family film, loved it.
This film captures the beauty of the landscapes of the west we used to see in old westerns and a story line that is dramatic and shows life in a day gone by. Two young actors perform like pros in their roles and you will recognize them when you see them. The soundtrack pulls you in and keeps you in the moment. Recommend for adult or family viewing.

A Moving "Ode" to the Forgotten Pioneers and Humanity's Pathos
I often feel there should be two film rating systems... one for the blockbuster Hollywood productions and one for the Indie movies. The viewer must adjust their expectations, but in so doing, the experience changes as well and usually for the better.

The Attic Door is not for the family (too psychologically deep),and it certainly doesn't constitute "horror." The human pathos does make it haunting, in the sense that I will remember this story. That's more than I can say for hundreds of films. That alone, probably makes it worth the rental. But there's also the cinematography and music - they are beautifully done... reflecting emotions and elevating the circumstances. The wild desert scrub and canyon landscapes are the "sixth player," i.e., the silent actor enhancing the superb performances of the two young stars.

I appreciate the art, and the thin line the Director had to walk given the story's "twist." Indeed, before writing this review, I mulled it overnight and...
