Dark and Realistic
Well written and well acted story about a man dealing with personal demons caused by serious rejection and abandonment issues, and a woman who came along at the perfect moment to bring all of them out of him in the worst way possible. Feel the dark emotions take control in this extremely realistic drama about a man who simply loses his will stop the darkness from taking over.
ILHM Reviews: Rubberneck
A one-time fling turns into a terrifying ordeal for Danielle when her co-worker, Paul, becomes deeply obsessed with her in Alex Karpovsky's chilling new thriller, RUBBERNECK. RUBBERNECK takes us deep inside the mind of a man obsessed in a stunning character study that is sure to strike a nerve. All of the risks and excitement that accompany an office romance are given a frightful twist, from the initial fear of discovery to the uncomfortable aftermath of exposure. The characters are all carefully crafted and placed into a real-world setting that is utterly believable. Karpovsky brings a raw emotion and intensity to the role of Paul in one of the most naturalistic performances we have seen in years. Jaime Ray Newman is fantastic as well in her depiction of the career-minded woman who remains unrestrained by the thoughts and expectations of others. Although many of her actions are painted in a negative light, they are always true to her character, and are delivered with brutal honesty...
intriguing
Quality drama and full of intelligence and a moving performance by Alex Karpovsky, who is also the director. I found it facinating to watch the main actor whilst aware he was also directing this film. In some ways, there is always a sense that Karpovsky is drawing on personal experience in an indirect expanded form, or more directly. ? It is not for me to say but there is a highly personal touch to his acting. Probably he has a geekish aspect but dont we all?. His intelligence shines throughout in a multi-layered awareness. I really like his originality.
